At Crockett Construction, we believe some projects mean even more than the work itself. One of those projects was the opportunity to partner with the Tunnels to Towers Foundation to complete important home modifications for Police Officer Tyler Bailey in Bradley, Illinois.
Officer Bailey was critically injured in the line of duty while responding to a call at a local hotel. In the aftermath of that life-changing injury, modifications were needed to help make his home more accessible and better suited to his daily needs. It was truly our honor to be part of a project that will help Officer Bailey live more comfortably and independently in his home.
As part of this project, our team completed a number of accessibility and quality-of-life improvements. These included building a concrete ramp with railings from the house to the garage, widening doorways throughout the home, installing a specialized toilet, and adding a whole-house generator. We also created a dedicated man cave in an outdoor structure, providing Officer Bailey with a comfortable and personal space to enjoy. To complete the project, a new flagpole and flag were installed as a meaningful tribute to his service and sacrifice.
This project was made possible through the collaboration of many skilled people. We were proud to utilize the talents and efforts of a local electrician, a local steel fabricator, and our own in-house carpentry team. It was a true team effort, and we are grateful to have worked alongside others who shared the same commitment to serving a deserving hero.
The project concluded with a special ribbon-cutting ceremony and flag-raising led by Officer Bailey. Representatives from the Tunnels to Towers Foundation, local police and fire departments, family members, and other supporters gathered to celebrate the completion of the project and honor Officer Bailey’s courage and resilience.
We are deeply thankful to the Tunnels to Towers Foundation for the work they do to support injured first responders and military heroes across the country. For Crockett Construction, being chosen to help with this project was a privilege we will never forget.
It was more than a construction project—it was an opportunity to give back to a local hero. Being trusted with this work for Officer Tyler Bailey and his family was something our team will never forget, and we are proud to have played a small part in helping make his home more accessible, functional, and welcoming for the future.
